One of the most versatile baseballs in the Wilson lineup, the A1030 ball with raised seams is perfect for a high school practice ball as well as a youth game ball.
1 Dozen Baseballs
Super Seam Technology: With seams 20% higher than raised seam baseballs, pitchers experience superior control on the mound. Fielders can locate the ball quicker in their glove and throw with more accuracy.
Red cushioned cork core
Gray wool winds
Grade C/D full grain leather cover
Great product and quality controlI bought 5 dozen for batting practice for 8U kids. The baseballs were new, not blemished, and looked great out of the wrapper. Seams are raised (as advertised) but not overly like some of the Diamond models. I like Diamond products too, this is just for a comparison of seam height. The baseball has that nice "hollow" sound when you tap it. Nothing looked warped. Leather looks mid to mid/high grade. We only used these outdoors on dry, grass only fields and dry, half grass/half dirt fields. We use a mechanical Louisville Slugger "Blue Flame" pitching machine, coach pitch, tee, and soft toss with these baseballs. After two sessions, seams were starting to fray on 5 or so baseballs. The holes the red stitching goes through all stretched out considerably. I think this has to do with the suppleness of the leather, but attribute the red seams fraying more to the "grip" on the pitching machine than the baseball quality. The thread isn't nylon, so, that factors into it.However, many of the balls warped really fast and most of them have soft spots. The leather appears to have stretched or loosened as well. To be fair, I'm not sure how much endurance baseballs in this price range are supposed to handle. I was a little bit disappointed and am not sure if I would use these for batting practice again. I might go with a cheaper baseball or ones specifically for BP. For pitching & infield, they're terrific. But, the baseballs were all very "lively"off the bat and when grounders bounce off bad parts of the grass. This was one of my primary considerations for this baseball purchase. They have a real rubber encased cork center, medium grade wool, yarn, & leather. I don't like using the composite cork & rubber center (sometimes called "cork & rubber pill" - an extremely misleading name) because they are specifically designed to not be as lively, albeit for safety and skill level of the younger aged players.Don't expect "game balls", but a decent practice ball in the mid price range...which is what I expected and received. My son is a sophomore college pitcher. He purchased a well known brand of balls for practice and hated them. Flat seams and synthetic cover does not allow for a good grip and working on breaking pitches. I bought a dozen of Wilson 1030s for him to try and he really likes them. Pretty durable practice ball. (Note: Pitching is far less abusive to baseballs than hitting.) He really likes the way they feel. He caught a Rawlings Pro ball at a MLB game a couple years, he compares the feel to that. Will purchase more when these wear out.Good valueBuying baseballs online can be highly questionable.. these baseballs were blemish free, nice high seams, and a nice tact to the baseball to give our players a solid handle on the balls. They also hold up very well compared to many baseballs that soften during the course of a game.We are using the Wilson 1030 for weekly practice. It is a durable baseball. We are happy with the quality and the purchase. Will order more as needed.I bought these baseballs just to get on the field and hit fly balls with friends and family. These are good quality and feel nice off the bat. The flight is good. I have had a tough time picking baseballs online and have definitely made some bad choices.I will definitely purchase these again!Great balls for the money. I coach my sons 14u team and we recently had a game where due to a miscommunication between the umps they didn’t have any game balls. So I gave them a couple of these balls. They lasted the whole game no problem.Needed to go next to anti thief baseball batI have bought 4 of these recently for the dog. The first three are well made and tightly laced. The fourth one arrived today and it wasn’t as well made as the first three and had loose bits of thread which enabled the dog to destroy it in minutes.High quality baseball but I neglected to check the material. It's made of dead cow. They refunded it without hastle though.Top dogs. These are up to the challenge of everyday use; great for training or for the ballgame itself, thoroughly recommended. These are excellent balls but you can’t get them wet as they soak water up like a sponge. They are hard as well so not great for young kids.
